Snow Hunt for Snow Bunny

We finally finished filming our first ever winter film, Snow Bunny. Last year I had hoped to film part of Girl Rods 5: Prim and Proper in the snow, but that didn’t happen.  Instead we filmed it in the rain, which worked just fine.  Who doesn’t want to see four girls in tank tops carrying a coffin across the city in a rainstorm?

Of course, most of Snow Bunny takes place inside, but it opens and closes in the snow. This caused a great deal of anxiety for me.  Our first show shoot went very well.  There was a ton of snow and we shot on a mild day.  The next snow shoot, however, had to be cancelled because it was unseasonably warm on the day of the shoot, which caused over two feet of snow to melt in one day.  Everyone in Chicago was delighted, everyone, that is, except me.  I even called the Chicago science store, American Science & Surplus, to see if we could buy some fake snow: they don’t sell it.  This is probably for the best as I’m fairly certain that our friends would not like us to scatter mounds of “snow” polymer all over their backyard.

Finally, it snowed again, and we shot our final snow scene on a frigid evening in mid-February.   Though, Julie and I did have to shovel all the snow in the neighborhood and deposit it in our friend’s backyard.

So, for now, the film is roughly edited, and we just need to meet with our music guy to score it.
