Contest Update: NYC Midnight Finalists!

Success! Our urban fairy tale, Sparkly Pink, placed FIRST out of 17 entries in our heat in the first round of NYC Midnight’s Screenwriter’s Challenge 2009.

Back in April, we had one week to write a 15-page screenplay. As in most NYC Midnight contests, we got an assignment at midnight (EST); this time we were assigned “fairy tale” as a genre and “television set” as our required special element.   After a night of brainstorming, Jessica had the great idea of creating an urban fairy tale, so we took the leap, made it rather grim, and it paid off.

Now for the hard part: On Friday night, we’ll receive our new assignment for Round #2, and we’ll have 24 hours to write a new 15-page screenplay. It’s scary and exciting. We can’t wait to do it, and we’ll definitely let you know how it turns out.
