What's a Good Spread?

Since starting our indie movie endeavor, we’ve learned many things, not the least of which is this: when you can’t pay your cast and crew, it’s essential to feed and hydrate them.

That’s why we’re preparing a large spread for tomorrow’s Libidoland shoot. Our film shoot might last 7 or 8 hours, and it would be simply unkind to ask people to give so much of their time without giving something back.

Thankfully, Julie is an excellent hostess. She knows what people want to eat  and she knows how to make things that travel well and that fit a variety of cravings.  We always try to have sweet things and healthy things.  Today she made cookies and lemon bars;  next she plans to put together a healthy middle eastern platter: hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, pita, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc.  It’s going to be delicious.

As far as drinks are concerned, we make sure to have both caffeinated and non-caffeinated beverages.  The caffeine is helpful for particularly grueling shoots.  And it’s essential to have water or juice on hand because dehydration makes people very crabby and very tired.

Here’s to food…and to a great shoot!
