UPDATES: Snow Bunny News + Weekend Contest

OH, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING! We found out today that our 2009 short film ‘Snow Bunny‘ has been accepted into the 2009 Queens International Film Festival.  In its 7th year, QIFF is dedicated to creating an event that ‘educates, inspires, and enlightens.’  For our purposes, we definitely appreciate their dedication to giving new and low-budget filmmakers a chance, and we can’t wait to see what happens next.

Big thanks to our amazing cast (Marci Ackerhalt Price, Jeremy Price, Lia & Naomi Trinidad) and our wonderful crew who worked so hard on this film during the coldest, snowiest days of last winter.  QIFF is in November – come back to find out the results!

IN OTHER NEWS, this weekend we participated in Round One of the 2009 NYC Midnight Screenwriting Championships, and we had 48 hours to write a 5-page screenplay.

Here was the assignment we received at midnight on Friday:

  • genre: fantasy
  • location: rain forest
  • special object: shampoo

Although fantasy isn’t our go-to genre (dark comedy? sex farce, anyone?), the visuals this assignment immediately conjured revved us up from the start.

This is why these contests are so great – they push us to write in genres we’d never choose on our own.  Also competing were our friends Kim and Mike. We’re pretty happy with the results, and we’ll post details about this new script in our “Screenplays We’ve Written” section very soon. We’ll find out how we did on October 22 or so; the 2nd round of the contest starts at midnight on Friday, Oct 23rd.
