Updates: CSSC, Peep Show & More!

Do I look Canadian yet?

SPARKLY PINK is one the best shorts we’ve written.  It’s an urban fairy tale with some fantastic and magical elements.

Although we love making our own shorts, we’re hoping that someone with a bigger budget (and better equipment) might make this someday.  So why is this CSSC contest such a big deal? Because the winner gets an option, a purchase, and the opportunity to get their short produced.  Even the 2nd and 3rd place winners get an option and purchase.  Keep your fingers crossed!

  • Our new Film Snobbery column, Peep Show, debuted this week! In Peep Show we’re going to explore what indie film has to learn from porn regarding marketing, distribution, and overall monetization.  Anyone who knows our history knows that a) we like to make a titillating movie every now and then (LIBIDOLAND, GIRL RODS) AND b) Jessica’s a bit of a brainiac, so we’re excited to put an intellectual spin on a fun topic.  This week we explored why we’re right for the job.  In two weeks, well, you’ll have to come back and see…
  • What else, what else, what else? We’re finalizing our plans for our San Fran / LA trip in July. We all set to appear on Film Courage on July 25th (12pm PST) with David Branin and Karen Worden.  We’re pretty sure they’re going to be in a great mood, because they just reached their funding goal on Kickstarter for their short film project Goodbye Promise.  Excited to share their success with them and finally meet them in person!
  • Lastly, we’re in the final push for the TILT screenplay.  (For a sneak peek at some of our character descriptions, take a look at the TILT casting call.)  We plan to finish the 1st draft of the script by 5/1.  Even though that date is coming fast, we’re great under pressure.  Expect some late nights, mini-breakdowns, and A LOT of solid writing.

While we’re on the topic of TILT, anyone have any questions about the movie or our collaboration with director Phil Holbrook (@philontilt)?
