We're on the Road to Somewhere

This has been a great, productive year for King is a Fink Productions. We wrote and produced 4 short films (Snow Bunny, Sound Sleeper, Anxiety Acres & Libidoland). Snow Bunny was accepted into 2 film fests (Lakedance International Film Festival & Queens International Film Festival) and nominated for an award.  We’re on our way to [...]

November is for (Movie) Lovers

November is King is a Fink’s favorite month.  Here’s why: We had a private screening for the Idville Collection (ANXIETY ACRES & LIBIDOLAND) on Sunday, 11/1, and it was lovely.  Check out the pictures here. Our short drama SNOW BUNNY is showing at Lakedance International Film Festival in Sandpoint, Idaho, tomorrow night at 7pm.  Wish [...]

Go, Snow Bunny, Go!

Snow Bunny is now an official selection of the Lakedance International Film Festival in Idaho.  Between our acceptance into the Queens International Film Festival last week and Jessica’s obsession with the skinny part of Idaho, we’re over the moon. Snow Bunny was our labor of love throughout the winter of 2008/2009.  This 26-minute short film [...]

Libidoland Music by Felled Hands in Hand

Eight Things You Need to Know About Felled Hands: #1 – Chicago band Felled Hands created the music for Libidoland.  It is beautiful. #2 – To create their unique psych-folk sound, Felled Hands uses off-the-wall instruments such as a homemade theremin and  a mini-synthesizer that can only be played with a stylus. (Try saying ‘synthesizer stylus’ [...]

The Long, Long, Long, Long Film Shoot

We had a seemingly endless 10-hour film shoot for Libidoland on Saturday.  Indoor scenes.  Outdoor scenes. Sex scenes.  Fantasy scenes.  You name it, we did it.  The only thing missing was a car chase and a building demolition. Although grueling, the shoot was incredibly successful.  Our leads, Beth and Andy, were troopers, and we’re grateful [...]

Short Film of the Week: "Taking Photos"

In this amusing short, Arunas Eimulis looks at how the culture of photography messes with our memories and emotions. Short Film of the Week: The Attack of the Robots from Nebula 5

I’ve been watching a lot of films with narrators lately to get ideas for different ways that image and text can play off each other. Here is a charming little film from Chema Garcia Ibarra. Adventures in Movie Make-up

This weekend we’re filming one of our summer shorts, a horror-comedy about a young couple who moves from the city to the country and is overcome by their fears of “the unknown.” Over the course of the 15-minute film, the husband gets a bit battered and bruised, so today Jessica practiced creating bruises and wounds [...]

What are Julie and Jessica doing now?

Update on projects finished and projects in the works: 1. Snow Bunny will screen on July 12 for friends, cast, and family. 2. So far, we’ve submitted Snow Bunny to the following film festivals: The Chicago Underground Film Festival, The Tallgrass Film Festival, The Great Lakes Independent Film Festival, and the Queens International Film Festival. [...]

Short Film of the Week: Le Bigot

Julie and I are diligently working on our script for the NYC Midnight Screenwriter’s Challenge.  In our heat, the constraints are that it must be a fairy tale involving a television. We’ve never written a fairy tale before, so this is both new and exciting. In the meantime, here is Le Bigot, our short film [...]

Short Film of the Week: Charlotte's Red

I don’t know if I’m going to go back to giving short reviews of feature films, but I definitely want to keep the Short Film of the Week feature here at King is a Fink.  Short films have really exploded in the past couple of years, along with web series, and I think that there [...]

Get your boots on, bunny!

Here is the trailer for Snow Bunny. There are still two essential steps before the film is complete. We are having it scored by Jeffrey Bouthiette of Bareboned Theatre and Dan Hein will be making the movie poster.

Snow Hunt for Snow Bunny

We finally finished filming our first ever winter film, Snow Bunny. Last year I had hoped to film part of Girl Rods 5: Prim and Proper in the snow, but that didn’t happen.  Instead we filmed it in the rain, which worked just fine.  Who doesn’t want to see four girls in tank tops carrying [...]
